But then it depends on what one defines as helps/hurts?

Up/down doesn't matter to me.

 

"Helps" = moves price higher, faster
"Hurts" = suppresses price

Futures will make it easier to buy and sell.

I think futures will have more an "up" effect rather than "down."

 

Depends ............ on whether one is long or

short - helps = price lower - hurts = price higher

 

So... you're of the view that convention wisdom of "helps" is to knock prices lower... and to "hurt" is to spur prices higher? That's just silly.
