Electricity for over 1.5 million USD was stolen in the Bulgarian small town of Kyustendil by an illegal Bitcoin farm. An inspection by a local utility company called CEZ Electro that maintains the region confirmed the leak.

The sheer size of the theft is impressive, that amount of electricity can cover the needs of the entire population of the town for a whole month during the summer. For reference, Kyustendil has a population of 45,000 citizens.

This is the largest electricity theft in the country so far, but this is not the first illegal Bitcoin farm that was discovered, apparently it’s a growing problem.

I wonder, if the electricity cost that much how much they actually profited from the farm...
