Bitcoin certainly seems to polarize opinion (love it or hate it). Personally, I can't get that bothered about it. It's just another thing to trade or invest in.

Yes, there are scams, but the financial world has always been plagued by them. And yes, most crypto stuff is extremely risky. But if someone is foolish enough to put serious money into something without doing sufficient due diligence, or weighing up the risks, then they only have themselves to blame. Caveat emptor. If nothing else, hopefully a big loss should teach them to be more careful with their money in future.

The only real thing I have a problem with is the electricity consumption. But then there are plenty of other investments which have ecological concerns. At least Bitcoin mining doesn't seem to involve human exploitation.

You are wrong on so many points....

    1. Sure and there is a reason for that. It is a cult where reality doesn't count. Short of like Tesla.
    2. Not exactly. Because of the unregulated parts, it is full of scams, ragpulls and thievery. When was the last time you lost your pets.com stock because the brokerage had a burglary?
    3. So scams are OK because they happen in other parts of life? Nice.
    4. So we shouldn't regulate any part of finance, and it should be every man for himself? The problem is with crypto that most "investors" are young who simply just doesn't know better, since they haven't had a similar experience.
    5. So if you get burglarized that will teach you to install security systems. Got it.
    6. The same stupid argument like in #3. So other investments are energy wasting, thus crypto's energy waste is OK.
    7. Different kind of exploitations, but El Salvador exploits their population.

But anyhow, I dare you to buy a gaming rig nowadays.

Just do the ‘failed-trader’ test: Park your sportscar a month somewhere else and show up on a bicycle. If she leaves you are better off. When she leaves, miraculously show up in your car a month later as a little revenge. When she asks what happened, mumble something like ‘exponential volatility curve dynamics’

Besides this, in general it is better to marry a woman who is used to money. She can handle it better and probably knows how to preserve wealth.
