SOROS FOUNDATIONS NETWORK PROJECTS IN SOUTH EASTERN EUROPE

As part of its commitment to bringing peace and stability to South Eastern Europe, the Soros foundations network supports a wide range of projects. The following is a partial listing of some of the projects either ongoing or scheduled for fall 2000 that cover all or a number of Stability Pact countries. For a comprehensive listing of current and proposed projects and donor participation information, go to www.osi.hu/sppp/index.html. Some of the projects listed below are supported through OSI network programs, while others are supported by national foundations in the region. Each project description has brief information about the project's objectives, the network program or foundation that supports it, and contact information for more details about the project.

Great so you admit he's a socialist. Only one problem now. He should be paying 70% of his income to taxes like they do in France and most other socialist countries. But wait he doesn't do that. In fact I think it would be very interesting to see what this socialist pays in taxes. My guess in % terms its less then a 3rd grade schoolteacher. So I guess our friend Mr. Soros is a socialist and a hypocrite.

Listen I have nothing wrong with him being a socialist. But if you are don't preach socialism and live like a capitalist. Live in a socialist country and pay your taxes to your all loving government. If it's so wonderful over there then why doesn't he live there. I think you know the answer.

If it is true that he pulls all his taxable money offshore in a questionable manner, he should not be able to donate to political causes. Only Americans in good tax standing should be able to legally bribe our politicians.

  6. Many hedge funds are off shore entities.

Your characterization of Soros' politics is completely false, probably deliberately so.

Thanks dgabriel, I am aware that most hedge funds are offshore. My point is that he has attained a large portion of his wealth through tax avoidance. He has admitted this himself. In fact he once said that if he had to pay regular income taxes from the time he start trading he would not have made even 10% of what he has now. You see this is my point. I don't have anything wrong with people who use tax shelters or who shield their income through LLC's or offshore entities. What I do have a problem with is when those same people say that thre rest of us should pay 50% to 70% our income to gov't to have this so called "great society" while the George Soros of the world pay next to nothing and amass huge fortunes. He is hypocrite pure and simple. Then he takes it even a step further and attacks our government and our way of life. Yet it's our government and way of life that has afforded him the lifestyle he has. Our exchanges, our regulations, our consumers, our speculators and to top it all of he gets to live in NY where our military makes sure he has a safe bed to sleep in every night. I am not arguing politics here, what I am arguing is when one person says one thing and does something entirely different. This is not about the right or the left, or whether you like Bush or not or whether you support the war. You cannot be a socialist and a capitalist at the same time. They are on the opposite ends of the spectrum.
