  1. President Trump will leave the office. aint got a choice in that thou he won't ever go into a quiet retirement. the man will continue to hold rallies after leaving the office and won't honor the tradition of past presidents.

Bill Maher is right in the point that Trump supporters have no ideological base. They are war minded and have no qualms with whatever means gets them to ends of punishing liberals.

There is no true north among trump supporters. Not fiscal responsibility, not rule of law, not even morality. As long as Trump is attacking the left they will forgive and support whatever the consequence to the country.

I just guessed because you made the ridiculous statement that we are devolving quickly into a dictatorship. Anyone who lived in a country that has one would not make such an obviously ridiculous statement. So I concluded you had never lived in one. If I am wrong, and you have, it makes your statement even more absurd.

That link is just as absurd as your claim.

Putin, Chavez, Erdowan, now Duterte and a few post Arab spring leaders, they all started with these "suggestions" of lengthening their stay and prosecuting political enemies after filling the judicial with yes men.

I don’t know, I think if not for the systems and institutions we take for granted Trump would be inclined to seek the powers associated with dictatorship.

He certainly uses the rhetoric of a despot.

Ah, so because Trump has one joke of something that they pushed in seriousness, Trump must be a dictator in the making. I'm sure I can find something Obama did that some dictators did as well, but that doesn't make Obama a dictator.

Gee, that's a profound statement. "If the founders had not designed a system with checks and balances and made a Constitutional Republic, people might have come to power that pushed the legal means of their power."

Yeah, probably. And Dog Bites Man.

How's this for joking? Are we a "constitutional republic." that spoke loudly for oversight on the last election, or just when it's politically convenient?

So you think places like Venezuela didn’t have a constitution with checks and balances?

Chavez and Maduro packed courts and jammed legislation and corrupted the regulatory and justice system to gain dictators powers.

McConnell is a good example of breaking the system when he stymied a Supreme Court nomination. Don’t think it can’t happen here especially with the republicans in Congress and now with an extremely right wing Supreme Court.

Barr as AG is another chip at our system. DOJ is getting pillaged as i type.

So yes, our systems and institutions go beyond the constitution. Think of the Saturday night massacre and all the people Nixon had to fire to get to one that would suit his corrupt agenda. Trump is on the same line.

  10. McConnell violated no constitutional provision whatsoever by following "the Biden Rule."

It may have pissed some people off, but pissing people off is allowed under the constitution, although less so over time.

I have stated before, though, that I thought that the way Republicans handled that was low class. They should have passed a resolution thanking Merrick Garland for his service and for presenting his credentials for review. However, all of that pales in comparison to how Kavanaugh was treated.
