According to one of the theories floating online, the couple split because Melinda was apparently replaced by a male clone. Surely, according to QAnon theorists, there is no other reason for a couple to split ways. And this quite outlandish theory comes just days after the couple made the announcement on social media. Bill and Melinda had taken to Twitter on Monday, May 3, 2021, to announce their divorce after 27 years of marriage. In court documents, Melinda had written that the relationship was 'irretrievably broken'. In the official statement they shared on Twitter, the couple wrote that they 'no longer believe we can grow together as a couple'. It must be noted that Bill and Melinda have not divulged the details of their relationship. So naturally, there are several speculations doing the rounds on social media. Common ones being Bill being immersed in work, unable to give time to his family, and the simple fact that they just grew apart. But QAnon theorists took all this to the next level with their absurd conspiracy theories and sharing them on platforms such as Gab and Telegram. New conspiracy theories One QAnon believer, cited by The Independent, took to Telegram to write, "The current version of 'Melinda' Gates is a dude, change my mind." Another user said on Gab, "So now that Bill (loser) Gates and his wife are being split apart, I just have that gut feeling that she is probably not going to be alive for much longer considering she knows TOO MUCH about his evil plans!" One tweet addressing the matter read, "Are we sure, to a medical degree, that @melindagates is not a man? Enquiring minds wanna know!" Affair with Fauci QAnon conspiracy theorists also linked Dr Anthony Fauci, the US leading infectious disease expert, to Melinda claiming that she was leaving Bill for a "real doctor". Debunking QAnon theorists Mike Rothschild, who has written a book on QAnon, tweeted, "Because I know you’re curious, and no, I’m not screenshotting any of it, the QAnon take on Bill and Melinda Gates splitting up is either that she’s already been replaced by a male clone, it’s a strategy to protect his money after he’s arrested, or she’s leaving him for Fauci," adding, "There are so many threads about it on greatawakening/win that users are posting threads about how there are too many threads about it." Calling attention to the transphobia in the latest theories, a Twitter user wrote, "If you want to know what QAnon's thoughts on Bill and Melinda Gates getting a divorce is, it's all about the transphobia." QAnon has targeted Bill Gates for the better part of last year when the billionaire started openly discussing vaccines. They had previously made accusations that Bill inserted tracking technology called microchips into coronavirus vaccines. He had even addressed the group and their lies, telling Reuters, "Nobody would have predicted that I and Dr Fauci would be so prominent in these really evil theories. I’m very surprised by that. I hope it goes away."
