Thanks. Don't miss the last part of the Mark Cook story which is one post below the second one after someone else's post. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1116576&highlight=Mark+Cook#post1116576 But read the first 2 first which are right above it with the links provided in the post on my losses I posted.
Worst: Take a look at JASO chart. Examine the all time highs, that is where I was all in on margin, sat stubborn for a few days, lost >25% of account size. I understand how worst days can become great teachers. Best: Goog call options went up I think >25% of account size. Now I do not swing for the fences as much. I sleep better. My risk is managed better. I am maturing. On bad days I continue doing what I am doing. On good days I continue doing what I am doing (and kiss my wife and thank her for sticking this out).
I see this on allot of old posts and it's kind of depressing. I always wonder what happened to some of these traders from the past. I even posted asking about some and the other day I was just going through some posts by "no pm please" who had a nice journal about starting a trading system. Last post from him was 2007. I always wonder if people just get sick of this site or just didn't make it trading.
Some people are out of the game. Some people just decide not to post anymore and are still in the game. Some people change handles. Some people get tired of some of the BS. Some people troll. Some people have started their own blogs. You never know really. It's a classic thread, we should keep it going.
+9700 Flash crash short 1 ym contract ended up adding 10 more on the way down when it tanked. -1700 day after flash crash because I'm a textbook example of feeling invincible after a big win. Daily I aim for $200 so that two day span was a valuable lesson not to get high off gambling .
Funny part is.... even though net net I was still up 8000 I felt like i blew up my account when I lost that $1700 . felt like a piece of shit
