Joe Biden's economic policies are reminiscent of Juan Person. He favored the unions and the unions loved him in return. In the end he caused the collapse of the economy, hyperinflation and collapse of the Argentinean peso. e.g.In the US the highly unionized postal service is bleeding red ink, but Biden recently refused to cut delivery from six days to 5 days in order to save jobs. It would have made dictator Juan Peron proud etc. etc.
They've certainly been abused. In some cases of police brutality and other issues, the unions protected them from bad behavior in the past. It's a bigger issue than alleged racism of cops, but doesn't get the same kind of media coverage. And Federal employee unions are a terrible idea...I mean they're practically impossible to fire as it is. Even FDR didn't like them.
theres a nice John Oliver segment on unions and police training. Basically both promote and protect the idea of a Rambo cop.
In this day and age… probably not. I think unions served a role getting us out of the bad practices of the industrial revolution. But now they are corrupt and purely political in nature.
%% THAT\ and Andre Carnegie hated them+ hated what they do. Same way with Henry Ford. Sure would not count on any union pension. One of the few exceptions; police unions maybe a good thing with talking snake media + spineless mayors/LOL
As an ex manufacturing supervisor at a plant that is now closed there is truth in your post. Your talent pool shrinks at nepotism runs a rampant. Offers were made to local 424 UAW and no concessions were amicable enough to adopt a two tiered labor system. Average education level was high school and average income per year was 50k plus. (2000"s). Facility was closed all jobs lost. Also between Trick, Bethlehem Steel, Dunlop and other WNY is where the Starbucks problems started. Glad I am out of NY and soon the US.... Akuma
