What with Trump threatening to refuse to recognize a Democrat victory, Russian hacking and interference, Republican resistance to mail-in ballots and moving polling places out of town, Trump putting one of his men in charge of the postal service, DOJ-Barr standing by to assist in any way needed, legal or not, and Trump's hatchet man at DHS sending rogue federal police, uninvited, into States, I don't care what the polls say, it is too soon to count the chicks.

While Trump is putting all the pieces in place for his eventual overthrow of democracy (never mind that he's going to prevent a fair election).

All those gun rights folks, with all their AR's and talk about needing guns to stop a tyrannical government, are running around like little kids making youtube videos about face masks.

Everyone laughs as it plays out right in front of them. Ignorance is why history repeats.

Trump fears prosecution once he leaves office. He plans on spending his last years of life as dictator of the United States, or he will die trying.

This is playing out just as it has played out in the past, with other countries; with the main ingredient being an ignorant citizenry.

Trump has repeatedly ridiculed leaders of our allies, but guess who he has never ridiculed.

Who are Trump's favorite world leaders: Putin, Kim Jong-un, and MBS (the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia). What do these three have in common?

The stage is being set. Opposition is being tested. You've seen just how quickly G men will reign down violence on defenseless citizens without cause. You see the rift between law enforcement and the citizens.

When it becomes "obvious," it's too late.

Your post scares the daylights out of me. I'm hoping I'm just becoming a bit of an irrational alarmist, yet I can't find anything in your post that does not ring true , and all but one or two statements are verifiable. I keep thinking that the parallels are not so strong as they appear. They are strong between Trump's actions and those of the others he is mimicking. Nevertheless, the strength and history of democratic institutions in the other countries that underwent rapid transformation to authoritarian governments are no where near as strong as they are still today in the U.S., despite the inroads made by Trump and the destructive forces he has launched against our Federal institutions, particularly our intelligence agencies, State Department, and Inspector Generals. I am hoping there will be enough resolve remaining in these institutions, our courts, and our military to pull us through the challenge we may soon face. I am pinning all my hopes on the Courts and the Military not caving in.

When Lt. Colonel Alexander Vindman told has dad no to worry, he would be fine for telling the truth, he was quickly proved wrong and retaliated against by being removed from his post and having his promotion to full Colonel canceled by the President. I hope these events do not prove prophetic of what's to come.

  8. Maybe he told his dad not to worry because he had twice been offered the job of
Defense Minister of the Ukraine while being a uniformed officer in the U.S. Army. So if he got that job he would be serving his country and dad would like that.

There's nothing to worry about. B1 is right in this regard, Trump will step down gracefully. If its close, then there's no way we'll have a decision on 11/2.... he'll cry foul.... but come 1/20/21 there will be a ceremony on the Capitol steps. For one or the other. 100% sure. 100%.

We need to worry about the next 2 months economically.

    Well said.

It's so obvious, no one really suspects it.

President for life? Trump says 'maybe we'll have to give that a shot some day'

Trump says supporters might ‘demand’ that he serve more than two terms as president

He's laying the foundation for plan b (Putting 'yes' men in place. Discrediting the media. Restricting the media. Grooming the public).

Plan a is to win the election outright. Plan b is to win by hook or by crook.

The problem gets worse exponentially as the infestation is allowed to continue. Take Barr for instance:

There is talk of holding him accountable once Trump leaves, so, guess what? He now also has an interest in keeping Trump in office ... forever.

If there is to be talk about holding those secret police accountable, or defunding them--or the military once Trump leaves ... Guess what, they'll get onboard as well.

All those who have dirtied their hands stroking dear leader, have a strong interest in maintaining the status quo.

Until/Unless the good majority of citizens place The Constitution above their fan boy obsessions, it doesn't look good.

These are my opinions as to our current trajectory. Just like a proper market forecast, unexpected news can change 'what would have been.' But you can never prove what would have been.

I hope I'm wrong on this one. I don't think people realize how vulnerable democracies really are.
