a. that has nothing to do with the risks going forward. (Which is what I thought we were discussing.) however, although the vaccines have done very well so far for the high risk... the benefits we see are waning. What will happen with variants, remains to be seen. This may be very early days as many scientists and observers wonder if Covid and its variants are here to stay for the foreseeable future... I hope these vaccines work great long term.
Covid becoming endemic is more likely than not, IMO. Vaccines working long term on a coronavirus is kind of a heavy lift. I’m not saying it’s impossible but I guess we have to define what we mean by “working.” If we mean preventing infections in greater than 70% of the vaccinated population over say 20 years - I doubt that will happen. But who knows. The shingles shot is a 3 dose regimen and protection can last up to 5 years. Tetanus shot has 10 year protection. Flu less than a year. It all varies.
It's Mu. You dumb fucks who refuse to get vaccinated are the problem. Clearly yours is cognitive. It's a Greek letter, Bro.
Yes that's my point......Columbia only has 29% vaccinated and the Mu starts there..... Delta started India.... Address your rage against India and Columbia
Colombia. It spread here bc you dump fucks are too dumb to have any sense of self preservation. Don't get vaxxed.
New Study.. Mu SARS-CoV-2 variant highly resistant to neutralization by convalescent and vaccinated sera ... “The Mu variant shows a pronounced resistance to antibodies elicited by natural SARS-CoV-2 infection and the BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine,” writes Sato and colleagues. “Since breakthrough infections are a major threat of newly emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants, we strongly suggest further characterizing and monitoring the Mu variant,” they conclude. https://www.news-medical.net/news/2...tion-by-convalescent-and-vaccinated-sera.aspx much more at link.. Note - with respect to natural infections... the samples they used were from 2020... so recent delta infections could be different.
Its Colombia not Columbia, there's a thriving mug and t-shirt business based off that. For the guy who predicted Covid in 2007, you sure got stupid. Mr Wang's bat soup surprise. A lot of people in Colombia were ill months before the official first case in March or April, myself included with what appeared to be a minimally contagious early strain. Colombia was full of Chinese road construction companies at the time, signs were in Spanish and Chinese at most road works. Now however, and the law still requires masks in public as Colombia is honest/realistic enough to acknowledge there are too many incapable of mask on and off reliably entering buildings, something interesting has happened. (the prior spike of mount stupid was due to the right wing government jumping the gun with the news of vaccines starting, not the reality but it settled). Remember, this is the home of Mu*. Masks + vaccines given in tiers, starting with the oldest and medical workers etc. *or as a friend said, "It's Mo, not Mu"
so today we learned that a. Piezoe knows he was wrong about what the PCR did and what it was measuring. b. the second quote below is now easly seen to be the protypical lefty uniformed condescension. They don't even understand how wrong they are. c. piezoe hates to admit he is wrong to me... and unfortunately for him that is all the time. . d. to us his credit... he is capable of learning and correcting his own mistaken beliefs about science... I do consider D to be the most important... I only wish... other scientists would speak out when they see bullshit being spewed by the narrative pushers and their fake experts. ( I know both side have fake news and science issues... at times.. however one side's is orwellian because it comes from those who know better.
@piezoe , I should have quoted your name when I wrote this earlier should you wonder why Jem has suddenly become obsessed with showing he is smarter etc. He has gone full retard basically. https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/for-the-dumb-ivermectin-cultists.360722/page-20#post-5460316
Looks like Biden has wiped out the Mu variant... Feared Mu COVID Variant Now Eradicated In U.S. https://www.iheart.com/content/2021-09-29-feared-mu-covid-variant-now-eradicated-in-us/ Data from a virus tracking website shows the "B.1.621." or "Mu" COVID-19 variant that led to fear of vaccine resistance and increased infection has been eradicated in the United States. Outbreak.info reports the Mu variant accounted for zero percent of new COVID-19 cases in the U.S. as of September 20, according to Newsweek. The Mu strain was previously present in most states and accounted for 3% of COVID-19 cases nationwide at its peak on June 19. The variant was initially found in Colombia in January and spread to at least 40 countries, but has since decreased to just 0.5 percent of global infections, Outbreak.info reports. The website confirmed a total of 8,557 cases of Mu were detected since the reported initial diagnosis as of September 26. Mu was initially speculated to be vaccine resistant, however, a study out of Japan showed the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine provided substantial protection against the variant, the Daily News reports. The World Health Organization and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention categorize COVID-19 variants in three watch lists -- variants of interest (VOI), variants of concern and variants of high consequence -- based on circulation rate and severity. The Mu variant was previously considered a variant of interest as it had genetic differences to other known variants and caused infections in numerous countires, making it a threat to public health, as of August 30. However, Mu -- unlike the Delta variant -- is not considered a variant of concern as its number of global cases remain considerably low.
