This guy is pretty smart, thanks for sharing.

What I will say is he is making the right points about the overall economic conditions but he shouldn’t underestimate the that people can feel pretty safe in their personal economic circumstances and have doubts about the broader economy.

I shared a poll earlier in this thread showing Biden’s numbers are low on the economy, crime and immigration and that led to this back and forth with froggy food stamps where he is arguing the economy is bad and woe onto Biden because inflation structural (even though he hasn’t articulated that it’s what he is arguing) and while that is wrong the sentiment he is sharing is relatively accurate. Americans are not familiar with inflation and don’t really know what to make of it, and it’s just natural to fear what you don’t understand.

Inflation will correct soon enough but not soon enough for most people. What Biden and the Fed are facing in the wake of the receding pandemic will be a labor shortage and a strong dollar and there really isn’t much in the tool kit to fight deflation. And that might sound great, paying less for things but deflation can absolutely wreck an economy.

Anyway, the dude is smart but we are in for a bit of a rocky road next year.

President Joe Biden’s approval rating has hit a new low as he wraps up his first year in office, according to a new poll.

Just 41% of Americans say they approve of the job Biden is doing as president, according to a NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll released Monday – the lowest the pollsters have recorded during his presidency.

The poll, conducted from Dec. 11-13, coincides with a surge in coronavirus cases, as the nation is once again grappling with a new variant, while rising consumer prices mark another abnormal holiday season. Meanwhile, the president’s congressional clout is in question as his legislative agenda stalls on Capitol Hill.

Yet recent surveys have also picked up a distinct softening of support for the president on the left. Biden was riding highest in the polls in the spring, around the 100-day mark of his presidency. Congressional Democrats had just passed his $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan and sent $1,400 checks to millions; COVID case counts were plummeting as vaccines became widely available. Among Democrats, Biden’s approval rating in the spring stood in the mid-90s, but in several recent polls, it has fallen into the low 80s. The drop among self-identified liberals was even bigger—just 66 percent approved of the president’s performance in a recent Monmouth poll, compared with 88 percent in April.
