I am working with this 24 yo kido atm. Guy had no parents & has 3 apartments, because for few years, he busted his a with 350 hour shifts per month. And hes white.
He could sit in the corner and cry about how life did wrong to him. Nope, choose to fight the destiny.
So it's a personal choice. Most of the time.

The US is the land of immigrants. Arnold Schwarzenegger came in as an immigrant with $50 in his pocket. Robert Herjavec's father came into the US with $100 in his pocket. Numerous other immigrants came into the US and took the opportunity given to them to become highly successful in life. In contrast, you have some lazy slug Americans just want handouts and freebies handed to them without working for it. Have the nerve to demand they be given this or that set asides. Just take a look at some American blacks demanding reparations when none of them or this generation or generations past were ever slaves. None of today's Americans were ever slave owners who owned black slaves? So, why should anyone pay anyone any reparations? It is utter BS. In a communist country, you can all be lazy because the communists will give all of you the same amount of food to sustain yourself whether you are lazy or industrious. So, it does not matter. In a capitalist society like in the US, you can be highly successful if you work hard enough at it. Lazy slugs deserves nothing since, they are too lazy to do any lick of work.

    Well said Smallfil.
If blacks want reparations then you better give reparations to the families of the white soldiers from the North that died or were wounded freeing the slaves.
Bottom line: the whole idea of giving blacks reparations is absurd and not even a subject to be taken seriously.
Can you imagine giving some criminal thug in Chicago reparations! What a joke.

Sometimes well intention programs created unintended consequences, like the $600 extra per week in unemployment payment created a situation when someone could receive more money being unemployed than working and therefore would rather stayed unemployed.

It is likely the same with welfare. In California, I googled and found a table showing the amount of welfare assistance a family could receive:

It is hard to live on $391 of monthly assistance in CA. The more dependents you have the higher the monthly assistance. Most on welfare could see the benefits of having more kids.

    Some blacks too:

    This is his early childhood:

Clarence Thomas was born in 1948 in Pin Point, Georgia, a small, predominantly black community near Savannah founded by freedmen after the American Civil War. He was the second of three children born to M.C. Thomas, a farm worker, and Leola Williams, a domestic worker.[6][7] They were descendants of American slaves, and the family spoke Gullah as a first language.[8] Thomas's earliest known ancestors were slaves named Sandy and Peggy, who were born around the end of the 18th century and owned by wealthy planter Josiah Wilson of Liberty County, Georgia.[9] M.C. left his family when Thomas was two years old. Thomas's mother worked hard but was sometimes paid only pennies per day. She had difficulty putting food on the table, and was forced to rely on charity.[10] After a house fire left them homeless, Thomas and his younger brother Myers were taken to live with his maternal grandparents in Savannah, Georgia. Thomas was seven when the family moved in with his maternal grandfather, Myers Anderson, and Anderson's wife, Christine (née Hargrove), in Savannah.[11]

Thus, again, it only proves the point, of it being a personal choice and victim mentality being the real scourge.
