I agree that is how it should be. Now waitresses profile patrons and eyeball which ones look wealthier and potentially open their wallets more. Now even a peaceful meal outside turns into an economic competition. Where the fuck are we humans descending to.
Should be good for the automation and machine learning industry. Eventually, robots and computers will be replacing most low-skill jobs anyway.
Logically we can then conclude that robots and computers will be paid the highest, because they do not require breaks, lunches, or even sleep. Hell, can pay them in digital currency. I hear computers and robots love that type of thing.
Robots replace most jobs and everyone gets a basic living wage and more time to think about art or something equally as BSy and they'll be happier is the Great Reset plan kinda. Hear they've automated mc Donalds, all food cooking handled by robot's, guess just a cleaner or 2 and security maybe ?? that's a huge saving and a lot of jobs lost if they all do that. Not affected by covid aswell, no workers!!
If Bill Gates and Klaus Schwab get their way, there will be a reduction in the world population and there won't be a labor shortage.
They have always done that. I worked at Red Lobster during high school. They profile everyone because a pattern of tipping exists with certain guests. Large tables of people are welcome because it means a large bill and large tips. And people are in a good mood to tip. Businessmen have an expense account and always tip 15-20 percent. No one likes single people.....low receipts, low tipping. Certain ethnic groups had a reputation for low tipping or not at all. Teenagers tip low or not at all. Tipping increases during the Thanksgiving, Xmas, New Year period. V Day and Mother's day are always big days for business and tipping. Women are more critical of waitresses and tipping than men.
The thing is, more and more workers expect tips. I go to PICK UP a pizza and take it out to the car myself and drive it home myself, and some ass clown glances down meaningfully at a tip jar. A tip jar, at the counter. No table service, no delivery, no special order or special service required, desired, or given. A tip jar. For what, exactly? For doing the job they were hired to do? For selling me something? This whole tipping thing is getting out of hand. When I was a kid you tipped a waiter or waittress. That was it. Maybe a small gift at Christmas for the garbage truck crew or the mailman. That was about it. Pretty soon your family doctor or lawyer will expect a tip. Cops answering a call. Firemen, paramedics. Plumber. Electrician. Politicians. We used to call that a bribe. I say enough. Table service in a restaurant, okay, I get it. 75% of your meal enjoyment is all about the service. A bartender? Sure, if you are getting Singapore Slings or Ramos Gin Fizzes and they are coming to you absolutely perfect. Drinking beer? Oh, puh-LEEEEEEZE! There are only just so many ways to bring you a beer when you are sitting right there at the bar. Let's let everybody get paid a proper wage, pay a proper price, and tip when service is extraordinary, not simply as expected. In fact, let's not even go there. Bad service? Tell manager, and don't go back. Done. At $15/hr a single person in most parts of the country can support himself, I suppose. A collection of compatible housemates all earning like that, can probably eat decently, maybe save a little. A single mother of two or three kids is still gonna have a tough time. I don't think $15/hr is excessive, when you look at how much it costs to rent an apartment, buy food, car insurance, clothes, and all the other stuff. Housing is crazy. Car insurance is robbery. No biggie if you make $140k/yr but someone not even getting $15/hr for a 40 hour week who is actually doing his or her job with diligence and integrity is getting a pretty raw deal IYAM. We shouldn't be paying adult full time workers so little that they have to apply for govt assistance like section 8 vouchers, food stamps, etc. That still means we are paying them the same, except the difference is when the money gets funneled through the government programs on the way between us and the workers, it gets skimmed mercilessly, and govt gets that much control over people on either end. Let's pay working people enough through honest means that they don't have to get watered down handouts from government agencies. And then tell those who are able to work to get a job or go hungry. There is a job for EVERY AMERICAN WHO WANTS ONE. Otherwise our borders wouldn't be getting mobbed by wannabe employees. When you have fruit orchards, vegetable fields, poultry plants, shrimp boats, construction and landscaping crews hiring temporary legal foreign workers or illegal aliens, those are jobs that should be filled by Americans. Yes, the work sucks. Too bad. LIfe is not a bed of rose petals. Sometimes it's just the thorns. Tough. It's a job! PAY THEM A WORKING WAGE, and stop giving them stuff for free for not working.
Well they will not go hungry for long before they start implementing the street income equality programs. And nobody wants to get off assistance so that they work slave jobs and end up with same money after taxes, but with worse medical insurance. The problems cannot be solved by raising wages artificially, it’s same thing as Fed printing useless paper.
