Obamas approval was around 30 points higher than Boehner,Trumps is 5 points higher than Pelosi

Presidents ratings are usually much higher than Speaker and Senate leader ratings, not so with Trump.

  4. Trump’s low approval rating will not necessarily prevent him from being reelected, especially given the tendency of some poll participant’s opinions not always reflecting how they will actually vote, like in the last Presidential election.

This is right for the wrong reasons.

The polling was and is pretty good. Trump can be re-elected with low approval because of the electoral college. Once you realize one vote in the electoral college is equal to 680,000 people in California but only 190,000 people in Wyoming you’ll understand that rural states have an advantage and the southern strategy has split the country almost perfectly that Trump can win with like a 46% approval rating but a democrat can’t without 50%.

The House is worse and the senate is awful. We are becoming a country where the minority rules over the majority but we can’t understand why there is so much discord among the people and disconnection between the government and the people.

  8. The reason for the multi decade low approval ratings of our leaders is the American people realize they are not being represented by our elected officials, whether they are Democrat or Republican. My hope was that Trump was going to be different. Trump has definitely made some moves I’m happy with, but in the end he is following the script written for him by the establishment. Whether it is willingly or unwillingly is debatable, but either way, the swamp wins again.

Well an American President will never have Putin’s approval numbers but that is the nature of our society. We are Northerers and Southerners, liberals and conservatives and we almost never agree on anything.

Our current status is one where the minority rule the majority. As a matter of history, the senate has always been skewed toward low population states - that is why it was created after all. The House however, is gerrymandered beyond any point of fairness, with democrats having to get well over 50% of the National vote to take or maintain control. Republicans can get control with around 46% of the national vote.

Prior to Bush W winning the electoral college mirrored the popular vote with the exception of one time. This gave credibility to our direct election of the president. People didn’t think about or care about the electoral college because it appeared the president was elected by the majority of the people.

I looked at this a couple of years ago, it’s going to become common place now that when a right wing president, conservative, Republican whatever get elected that they don’t have the actual majority of the popular vote.

So the government is less and less likely to actually reflect the will of the people. And anyone who has stepped foot in an American political science class knows a president’s agenda is dead without the support of the people.

To your point about disaffection toward the government, if your right wing I couldn’t understand why. Everything in the government was yours for years. The Supreme Court is tilted right for a long time to come. This is what right wing America looks like.

But if you are truly unhappy take solace, I think it was the Lafayette that said what he admired the most about the American form of government was the ability of the common people to yell at their representatives.
