Is direct voting the answer? We don't even need the politicians....lets have a nationwide vote on everybill
The EC has nothing to do with Senate races and House races -- which are respectively by state and district. I will note that in recent Presidential elections the raw vote had millions of more people voting for the Democratic candidate rather than the Republican. If we did get rid of the EC it is likely we would never see another Republican in the White House in your lifetime.
I realize that about the House and Senate lol.... and I disagree. Trump lost NY by like 2M votes, I think he lost CA by 7M. Do realize how many folks in solid red states like TN, AL, AR, MS, LA, etc stay home on voting day because they know their state always goes red. If the presidential election came down to popular vote, you'd see 10's of millions of solid red state voters show up at the polls.
So your claim is that blue people in red states stay home on election day because they know their votes don't matter anyway and their state always goes red. Well doing away with the EC system should add millions of additional Democratic votes then -- as these blue people all show up at the ballot box.
The last thing Republicans want to do -- is do away with the EC system for Presidential elections. It would be disastrous for the GOP party. But -- hey -- if Republicans want to do away with the EC system and go with the raw vote for Presidential elections -- then have at it. Democrats will be cheering you on greatly.
