"IF 1 IF 2 APA" is just a drill. As with rockets and icebergs, it needs trends and a certain pace in order to yield positive results. Sometimes it works better on other time frames: 15 minute, or 30 minute. Reviewing my notes, I found that the most useful info on this subject is in Grob's posts: - page 8: 09-30-03 05:50 PM - page 9: 10-01-03 02:48 PM You can also find related info in various threads on MSN:
Ok. With the right trend and pace a simple moving average system also yields the best results. How do you foretell the trend or pace ?
I wrote "zero risk" because theoretically you could reverse every time the price crosses your entry point, and you'd never lose if you ignored execution time, commissions, slippage. Actually APA, as introduced by Jack, doesn't mean to reverse more than a couple of times per 5 minute bar, because of the execution time, and because it restarts the IF 1 IF 2 sequence.
So, in the other times its not profitable ? How do you only trade during the profitable times if you don't know when they will be ? Just curious. edit: How is this an improvement over the first one ?
Sorry, I don't plan to get engaged in such discussions. I don't want to help in hijacking this thread. My posts were just meant to give more context to the info you posted. Nothing more.
RoughTrader, Sorry for the diversion. Wishing you best luck beyond the hype. Looking forward to your progress.
No problem. I'm not posting much because I'm busy trying to get this code right. There are so many levels of intricacy to get tapes correct it's difficult to organize. RoughTrader
