I post this here publicly so everyone knows whats going on. There is a company out there that is bringing lawsuits against blogs, forums and those who post up news articles publicly WITHOUT warning. Therefore, if you post an article in its entirety here on Elitetrader (which I see commonly done) then you subject yourself to lawsuits as well as put Elitetrader at risk. http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2010/07/copyright-trolling-for-dollars/ http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2010/jul/23/more-copyright-lawsuits-filed-over/
Here is a link to how Elitetrader can protect itself from the likes of S2007 who blast news articles in their entirety to the site without any permission from the author: http://www.citmedialaw.org/legal-gu...f-against-copyright-claims-based-user-content
I think it means to post the link, but NOT the article. But you are generally allowed to excerpt a brief portion in quoting or commenting about the article. But just putting someone's article on your site/post without permission is infringement, I believe. With or without the link.
