This is a very interesting rumour, even if it's untrue. But for what it's worth the DEM page on the Kitco site http://www.kitco.com/market/dm_charts.html does exist and the obvious question is "why only a DEM page, and not a FRF page as well?" I guess time will tell whether or not this rumour is true.
There has been a lot of discussion of this a couple of weeks ago... Stanley economists and Martin Wolf have been suggesting this recently.
Just a few days ago they were showing the quotes of the French Franc on the ticker on Wall Street. This is just psycho-warfare. I think the euro-countries will stick together when the going gets rough. One thing for sure is, shorting the Euro is great a bet. Think about what will happen when the US starts raising our interest rates.
