Is the value of an education reaching "not worth it" levels?

  1. Yes. It is one big ego trip and many jobs pay well with minimal education.

  2. .............. a wealthy person to refer or label themselves with regards to their wealth.

    --------------------------

Yikers. Wealthy people have more labels for wealth than any other group.

You've got your new money, old money, inherited money, earned money, money earned from vice, money earned from socially responsible causes, then you have european money, Jewish money, to name a few. the list is endless. Each group has petty grievances with each other

  3. Never heard a soul refer to or label themselves with any of the above language.

  4. COSTS of being wealthy? Frivolous costs are what kill true wealth. Anyone can spend most of their money on bullshit or even worse, bankrupt themselves with narcissism and greed.

Wealth is measured in time; how many days, weeks months, years can you afford to live at your standard of living without having to do any paid work.

IMO, "wealthy enough" means there is time to truly focus on travel, adventure, physical and mental improvement, etc....without being distracted and bound to the rat race...forget the big empty mansion and using a Ferrari as your cock.

  5. WTF?
Are you really that ignorant? What exactly is "Jewish money", and what is the grievance it has with other people?
That has to be one of the most idiotic statements I've encountered on ET.

  8. food for thought

"As an analogy, consider a college education and think of the education’s cost as “book value”. The intrinsic value of the education is calculated by estimating the earnings of the graduate over his lifetime and subtracting from that figure an estimate of what he would have earned had he lacked his education. The final figure is then discounted back to present day figures using an appropriate interest rate.

Some graduates might find that their book value of their education exceeds its intrinsic value and some may find otherwise. Whatever the case, it is clear that book value is meaningless as an indicator of intrinsic value."

  9. Proves my point. You've never been rich. Poor ppl are afraid of using that word.

Timmy: Hey Mr., you're really wealthy aren't you?

(Think he's going to be impressed?)

    On the other hand:

Timy: Hey Mr., you're really rich aren't you?

    (Now you're talking).

    ------------------------------------

Wealth means you're meausring someone by their bank account. Rich means all that and more! Someone could be wealthy, but deep down inside they feel poor as a beggar. Then, there are ppl who are both rich on the inside and outside.

There has been study after study that shows that higher education makes you way more money over the long term:

    "Lifetime Earnings Soar with Education"

    http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/moneymatters/a/edandearnings.htm

But people don't measure quality of life (as opposed to quantity which is easy to measure). I claim that higher education makes a person deeper, better able to handle the more complex world we are in, imo. My problem is the runaway costs...
