Best futures contract to trade if you're starting out is the HHI on the Hong Kong Exchange. Once you get good at that, you can trade step up the volatility level and trade the HSI. They both trade at 50 HKD per tick which is always $6.37 USD per tick because the HKD is pegged to the USD.
The YM, ES, and the RTY is what I'd recommend for beginning day traders. The NQ for experienced day traders with a decent sized account. Currencies, metals and energies are for swing trading, anywhere from 2 to 30 days.
rather difficult to recommend a particular futures for you. because today a particular futures might be easy to trade. tomorrow, it might be difficult. definity I trade those quite easy-to-trade futures which you can see in my Journal. I love Natural Gas futures (during winter time ) the best because its movement is not jerky / spiky.
I think the German Bund, almost 600k traded is better to start, trends more, starts in middle of night of course but continues on till 3pm CDT? ES is excellent for those who very experienced and understands what is normal for ES, plus you can do volume in first 90 minutes, almost a million contracts trade Wednesday. NQ's are very sloppy cause volume gets spotty, has bigger ranges cause lack of volume to contain it, 300k traded, dow little above 100k volume. Lack of volume means slippage. Crude good market but I think after you know what you are doing. One can't be going for one tick profits in NQ, unless it is breakeven stop with each tick $5
