Well I am not referring to Congressmen, they are not normal. But except for a select few in cities, most of the wealthy live outside of cities in the suburbs so wtf is he talking about living close to work and being rich? i work from home but dem other rich folks be living well away from work.
One of his strong points is that he doesn't appear to be an intellectual or unusually bright. (those are characteristics that weigh on Bute whatever and to a lesser extent on Warren.) That's hugely important when you have to appeal to large swaths of the public. People think, "he is one of us" and not, "one of them," whoever "them" is. He has a very simple "Mr. Smith goes to Washington" appeal. If the movie was to be remade today, Beto could play Jimmy Stewart's role perfectly by just being himself.
Hardly. People like to see him as an undiscovered gem of some sort. In reality, Beto was in fact in Washington for six years as a congressman. He accomplished nothing, no one knew his name on a national scale, and he is still just a regional candidate. Lost a Senate race, is low in the polls, very low. He is hardly the naive, new-to-the-game person that Mr. Smith was. They both loved/love the drama though. And Beto will do his drama. Not going to be senator, president or anything lofty though. Six years in DC as a backbencher, then lost a senate race and the tards are thinking he is going to blossom into some kind of rose or something. Maybe he will livestream having a vasectomy or something to boost his ratings. You losers need to get a candidate somewhere.
Reality has little to do with political campaigns, or Hollywood Movies. It's all perception. Perception in politics and movies is an invention of clever and creative minds. Take Trump in 2016 for example. Perception = a skillful business tycoon, a fresh face in Washington, a swamp drainer, a tough deal maker, someone that will build a wall, stop illegal immigration, bring back manufacturing jobs, bring China to its knees, bring Kim Jong-un to heel, lock up Hillary, and make America great again. Reality = a sociopathic narcissist, a failed business man, a buffoon, an incompetent boob, a fraud and con man, a pathological liar, a hopeless loser, and totally in Putin's pocket.
Exactly right on Trump's empty promises. But then you could do this with every President. Remember when Obama came to power promising bank prosecutions and holding corporations and Wall Street accountable? That's what got me to vote for him. What was the result? Zippo. Remember the whole "Most Transparent Administration in History" horseshit? Good times.
Yes. Exactly. The reality is that there is a Congress, including a Senate that is in the control of one man, and a Supreme Court. And today's candidates may not be able to do any of the things they campaign on. But that's a "may not" ; not a "can't". So very much depends on public sentiment. Even so. we have seen how public sentiment can be ignored, when something more powerful than sentiment intervenes, i.e., money. Now, more than ever perhaps, is a time when every eligible voter must vote. Democracy is a bitch!
