Well, doesn't Texas=Heat in general? I mean the whole state. Austin sounds like a fun place, Houston sounds too sticky for me. What do I know though, I live in Colorado, no humidity.
Crime in Arlington, VA or Alexandria? Are you serious? Maybe in DC. And the weather is pretty nice compared to the south. Bugs and snakes? Have you been to south Florida? You are going to have traffic everywhere except Fargo, ND. And even there I hear it's getting bad.
This is true as any East Texas boy can tell it. Funny, how accurate it is, actually. Try Austin, much drier than Houston, a lot more progressive as well. Round Rock to San Marcos is the "liberal" zone......otherwise TX is VERY conservative (Houston's not bad at all though in this respect.) Austin also comes with it's typical stereotypes, it's dubbed the live music capital of the world and often called a mini San fransisco, and all that goes with it. Very hip town, lots of fun. Best state to trade from? Central TX, stay there 6mos. of the year....then split time between FL (beaches), HI(beaches), WA (mountains) & an office or two in NYC/LA/CHICAG for a quick big city fix for a few weeks. If you're operating under your own SS# for tax ID this is the ticket...if your structured, you'd better check Nexus rules for income/gains. PS---You can can get an great house in the suburbs for 350k....living like a king, if you play your cards right. Housing in TX is very cheap. A 350k place in central TX looks like 2-3mm in LA. -Cheers, NBBO
Ya, see I'm tryin' not to sell the place, know what I mean ;-) gordo Yes, actually Fargo, ND IS A FANTASTIC PLACE - ESPECIALLY IN JANUARY!! I hear it's a great place to raise kids..
I lived in San Diego for 14 years and I miss everthing but the traffic and the taxes and getting up at ridiculous hours after falling asleep at 11 or 12 p.m. I could not fall asleep earlier. Florida is awesome for no income tax and healthier trading hours for me. Ideally you would live here and spend a month or two skiing and a month or two in San Diego. I have trouble thinking about leaving here because I have lost so much weight playing tennis in the late afternoon and evenings in the warm weather. San Diego is almost frigid after dark. But I do miss the surfing and the proximity to mammoth. Overall San Diego is awesome, except if you are single there is a lot of competition for the top women. The Sarasota area of Florida is awesome for the warmth and the trading hours. My part of Florida might be a little boring for a single guy. But for a married guy it is great. I have even met a lot of interesting people here because of my kids sports. I have met major league pitchers. I am friends with the head american league scout for the yankees and a NBA ref. I run into formet Atp tour players and their coaches. My neighbor runs a hedge fund with unreal returns. It is really pretty entertaining from a sports perspective and investing perspective. There is not enough time to hang out with everyone. However if you like cultural stuff or lots of single women this is not your spot.
Tennessee has mild weather and no income tax, but there is some tax on dividend and interest. Has anyone considered northwest Texas, like Amarillo? Weather is not hot there.
I just got back from Maui and Kauai. Being a coldwater northeast surfer it was pure heaven. I`m looking at Kauai RE "upcountry". the wife said to me "if we are able to buy a house cash its ok with her to move there! Time to get busy....lol surfed at poi pu...pakala/acid drop area
