Some truth to all this...perhaps "mob" in 1960's...now it's the LV Convention and Visitor's Bureau....LOL... Don
I go to Grandma's house in Long Beach...Pam or Tammy driving, 3.5 hours...me driving, 4.25 hours...these women drive way too fast.... (In case you don't know, Pam is Bob's wife, and Tammy is his daughter, our President of BT)... 'Don
Terrible traffic out of Vegas and into LA. I've made that drive many times (from Santa Monica) and don't think I've ever made it without seeing a terrible accident on the 15. That has to be one of the most dangerous roads out there. Somehow Don, I find it hard to believe that your grandma is still alive More power to her, if she is.
Vegas was a good choice a few years ago, now the cost of housing is higher than some parts of Denver, mine for sure, and the desert landscape is the desert not much to look at unless you are in Red Rock. The housing market is already deflating there. I can't disagree about the quality of nightlife though, it's better than Europe, and that's hard to beat.
Five evacuations per year? LOL. My parents live 100yds from the Atlantic in Lauderdale and they've fled twice in the ten years they've been in Florida.
No you are talking friend. I am looking at Eastern Europe and possibly even Panama or Dominican Republic. I know opposite extremes, each has many perks though, both are lower cost of living for quality of lifestyle compared to US.
I'm deciding between Reno/Tahoe, Las Vegas (Home of the Bright Clan), and Vancouver, WA (home of nothing). Each has serious pluses and few cons but each is significantly different. Choosing is so hard.
Compared to where I from Las Vegas is extremely safe. Metro Detroit doesn't have the image it has for nothing. Even the good areas are "edgy." When I hear folks say Vancouver, WA is ugly and rundown I have to laugh. Its all relative.
