    Hi all,

Was wondering if I could ask for your opinions ... what are the best trading software and platforms that are available for short-term, day or swing-type trades? (Mostly just for stocks).

I'd like to automate a system that gets out by days end most of the time?

Any suggestions on what's worked for you? I'm thinking Wealth Lab or Tradestation, but realize there could be many other options out there.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Sierrachart has a good look and feel. No optimizing backtester though.

AMIBroker has a blindingly fast backtester, a feature rich broker interface and good support.

Openquant is very nice, good IDE but lousey support, not for programming amateurs but it has a powerful backtester, slow, but powerful..

Ninjatrader has a brand new release..

    Multicharts is a Tradestation clone...

Neoticker is said to be very flexible..

Some newer and higher end products are Tickzoom and Tradeproject...

  3. Whatever platform you choose, it must have on demand data. Historical to backtest, and live to trade off of. For a one man shop, which most retail traders are, there is simply too much to do to spend time managing your own data, fill gaps, correct data errors etc. For me, TradeStation fits the bill
