  2. Jesse Livermore *was* the best trader of all-time

Currently, it would probably have to be Paul Tudor Jones

  7. I think there are only 3-4 genuine candidates for this.

    A. Paul Rotter
    B. Paul Tudor Jones
    C. Steve Cohen

(And maybe that indian dude mentioned earlier).

Jim Simons was good in his day but I'm not sure if he even trades anymore. In fact, he doesn't even run Renaissance anymore.

Do you know what would be nice,? If we could get these guys together for a trading competition.

Maybe they could each contribute their own $1mil and then trade it for say 3-6 or even 12 months and the person who wins can be declared the "World's best trader". Any profits could be donated to their favourite charity or an agreed upon charitable foundation.

These guys have huge egos but they also love their philanthropy, like their $10k/head leukemia dinners and $20k poker tournament buy-in, etc. I'm sure they wouldn't mind doing it.

Tudor Jones is doing a great job at the Robin Hood Foundation. Steve Cohen is actually on the board so these guys are in probability good mates already.

Anyway, back to the comp, the competitors can trade the account while still at their firms etc the only requirement being that they themselves must personally trade the account.

It would be fascinating thats for sure.

    Thoughts?

i my opinion Sir John Templeton is the best trader of all time.Templeton’s career began shortly before World War II when he borrowed $10,000 and turned it into $40,000 in four years. Famous for his Templeton Growth Fund, he built his fortune spotting opportunities internationally before others did.
