Take a look at DTN real-time feed via satellite. We have been using it for about 2.5 years now and we are very satisfied.
Looks interesting, but the only thing I find under there SDK stuff is an http get/post mechanism Do they have an API to get raw tick data fast?? peace axeman
Axeman, My guess is you were looking at our FinWin product line, not DTN Real-Time. FinWin is our web based content distribution system which is XML/Text/Query based. It is for distribution to websites, etc. DTN Real-Time is our retail satellite datafeed which provides a full broadcast of data to our satellite receiver at your location. The receiver has 3 methods to connect. USB, Ethernet, or serial. We sell a SDK for $400 (one time fee) which is essentially a protocol definition. Because of the connection methods and protocol definition, you can use any OS and development language you want. The feed starts at $129/mo for RT equities. We don't have much info online about the product, but you can start here: http://www.dtnma.com/template.cfm?u...oup1=individual&subgroup2=satdelivery&view=1. We also offer a 30 day trial to the satellite service. Feel free to call 800-475-4755 if you have questions we can answer. Jay
Hello Jay (iqfeed), any update on the implementation of the changes to DTN's historical server architecture which will allow DTN to create a filtering mechanism (for historical data)? You mentioned in October 2003 that DTN didn't have a hard date for completion, but was shooting for the end of the year (2003). I know many users who were orginally interested in IQFeed, but then signed up with competitors because for their technical analysis they need historical minute data without false spikes (for some charting methods such as point & figure charting clean data is essential). As for myself, I don't need a filtering mechanism for historical intraday data immediately, but I would really appreciate an update whether DTN is still planning to introduce such an (optional) filtering mechanism.
We absolutely are planning it. The project has moved up our organization a bit. We originally were going to implement something within the IQ servers directly. Now, our Ticker team is working on the project, which will thus be able to pass down to IQ as well as our satellite and telco feeds. I wish I had an ETA for you. We have been hung up on our IQ team working on our satellite client (quite a few people coming on board with BMI satellite going away). That project will be in beta within a couple weeks, which will free up more time on IQFeed. We also are hiring another developer since we lost one a few months back so we have been a little short of resources. Jay
1. This varies on the exchange, but most major exchanges do send out notifications in their feed for corrections, repricements, etc. Some exchanges just send emails when certain trades are busted (i.e. CBOT). 2. I'll answer both of your questions in #2... At this time, eSignal does not automatically adjust it's historical data when it receives these correction messages, however we do have a team of Quality Assurance Specialists that monitor the feeds throughout the day and issue manual corrections if needed. We also have a Bad Tick Reporter built into eSignal to quickly report any bad ticks directly to our QA Team. Please know that we are working towards revamping our historical data servers (specifically our Tick Servers) in order to do this. eSignal, on the software side, does have configurable client side price filtering on the eSignal Advanced Charts. In addition, bars can be edited quickly using the Bar Editor, if a specific change needs to be implemented for your particular methodology. If you have any additional questions, please let me know.
I certainly concede your point on technical grounds, but from a practical standpoint I have never purchased one minute historical data (and I've download gig after gig) that didn't contain suspect points even when "pre-filtered". On a practical level I have found the need to simply look for anomolies based on the average range of of the local candles. Let the candles run pretty free, but if things get too wild I don't hesitate to chop them down. This almost always involved the H/L rather than the O/C. From my perspective I care not if a point is "good or bad", but only if it is relevent to my trading strategy. JB
IQ: >DTN Real-Time is our retail satellite datafeed which >provides a full broadcast of data to our satellite >receiver at your location. For the purposes of Axeman's question the Sat feed will get it's ass kicked, period. JB PS: This is not an criticism of your data...just pointing out the satellite feed latency.
