  1. Actually IB is closer to 50 cents with 5000/day which is 110,000 month

    10000@.75 +100000@.50/110000 = .5227/contract

    Premium => USD 0.10
    <=10,000 Monthly Contracts *
    USD 0.75
    per contract USD 1.00 1 Contract @ USD 2 Premium
    = USD 1.00
    2 Contracts @ USD 5 Premium
    = USD 1.50
    Premium => USD 0.10
    >10,000 Monthly Contracts* USD 0.50
    per contract USD 1.00

    1 Contract @ USD 2 Premium
    = USD 1.00
    2 Contracts @ USD 5 Premium
    = USD 1.00

    Interactive brokers charges $1.75 a contract for direct routing, yes?

    That other .75 is for "smart routing", yes?

    If you want to go direct, it seems to be a lot more. Am I missing something here?

    Smart routing can take up to 10 seconds, right?

    SMART routing routes to the exchange with the best price, the speed is measured in milliseconds.

    milliseconds in options trading, checking all the regionals? I'd like to see those figures......

    It's more in the order of seconds, I'm sure.

    $1.75 direct, though, right, no tiers?

    your post states that SMART routing can be 10 seconds longer than routing directly to an exchange. That isn't true. The choice on where to route is measured in an instant.

    I just opened an account with eregal.com and if you trade with equity options the following commission applies:

    # Equity Options: $19.95, Unlimited Contracts

    For stocks and index options the following rates are valid:

    # Stocks: $11.95 Per Trade
    # Index Options: $1.00 Per Contract, $19.95 Minimum

    my post states nothing of the sort. the decision where to route should only take an instant, yes, but I believe it is your website that mentions 10 seconds. I think most of us here are aware to check all the regionals, etc, it can take time. If you're just going to best of book, maybe, sure, it could be quick. But give others here the benefit of the doubt that it's not millisecond instant in option land.

    If you choose to detract from the fact that direct routing is $1.75, feel free. That semed to be the original question posted here. All "smart" routing on anything, anywhere, any time, adds latency.
