I was borned in Barcelona and I've lived here most of my life. All I can say about this post is that I love it when foreigners try to speak spanish or catalan (we speak two languages in Catalonia). I consider it a nice way to be polite and integrated, though it's true that normally the level is very poor. By the way, I see almost never an american trying to speak spanish. I don't really care but I wanted to put that clear.
I'm American and I've spoken Spanish since escueala secondario... Have you been to Andorra? I want to go there sometime soon, it seems like a cool place... i wonder if their internet infrastructure is up to par for trading.. the food is said to be very good, the attitude towards foreigners also I suppose since they derive income from ski tourism...
Yes, I've been to Andorra a lot of times. It's about 2 hours from Barcelona by car. It is a great sky resort. Internet connection is like in a normal european city. Andorra is famous in Spain because it is a tax haven, and there are many banks there. Internet shouldn't be a problem. By the way, catalan is the only official language there, but spanish, english and french are spoken in many places. How would I define it? maybe like a tiny Switzerland...
I lived in Barcelona for a year. Great times. Weekends in Andorra in the winter. Weekends at my friend's beach house in Pals in the summer. Great restaurants, nice bars. Luxury appartment for a low price. A lot of friendly people (spanish and international) Walking around without a jacket in the winter. Go for it
I'm likely moving to Greece early next year. My situation is different, my family has a couple homes on an island. We also have vineyards and acres of olive trees that have been left idle. My living arrangement would be free. Everyone there has WiFi. My question is can I bring all my equipment or do I need to buy computer equipment there? I know I need an electric converter, would that be sufficient? Thanks
