I appreciate everyone’s concerns about me losing money on options. I am pretty experienced in the market, although I don’t do it professionally. I sold about 100 CSP’s and CC’s. Maybe 80 CC’s and 20 CSPs. I ended up not being successful on my first go round. I have studied investing for years. Both fundamental analysis and technical analysis. Over a long period of time, I have been successful. As they say, it is not timing the market, but time in the market. I have tried all types of strategies, and most of them have failed. However, I put only small amounts of money into the strategies, so my losses are very small. I am retiring in a year so need something to occupy myself. I plan on paper trading on TOS for a while, and then committing small amounts of real money until I am convinced I have it mastered. An interesting story. I was in a group of quants that created screens to pick stocks. The people were pretty smart. MIT professors. Most people had at least a BS in computer science or Engineering. Some a lot more. We did all types of statistical analysis, back testing, etc. Here are the results of the best screens. I don't think most people picked those exact screens so they did not get those results. 10 years 1994 thru 2003 CAGR = 52% 10 years 2004 thru 2013 CAGR = 38.5% 10 years 2014 thru 2023 CAGR = 4.6% The screens are dead replaced by more sophisticated analysts with better techniques. Are most people here professional traders by the way?
Ok, I thought I read that it is populated by professional options traders. Well, they know more than me.
Dream on... It's far from truth. I have seen maybe only a handfull of experts, rest has no clue of reality
It's like saying most people on Myspace are major entertainers and influencers... That train left the station a LOOONNGG time ago...
You must be an MIT graduate. Most here are professionals or expert traders. I am one of the few amateur retails. After you retire, if you trade, do hang around and have fun, otherwise trading is a very lonely endeavor.
