Best Macro Recorder for XP

Discussion in 'Automated Trading' started by shortie, Nov 16, 2008.

  1. i would like to automate some steps in my trading via unsophisticated means. i am not a programmer but i can write simple scripts in vba for excel.

i trade via IB and need to automate several steps related to basket creation from DDE and subsequent basket submission.

some here mentioned Autoit and Macro Schedule. it sounds like either of them would do the job. could somebody comment which one is better or if there are other alternatives for somebody of my level of expertise?

    thank you!

  2. unsure quite what you are trying to do, but if doing things directly on the web, you can use the following very simple add-on within FIREFOX to do SOME web actions:

  3. As far as keyboard macros are concerned, autoit is definitely da shiznit. I've tried several others, but autoit is really good, reliable and easy to use.

  4. no it is not on the web. it needs to work with files like DDE from IB. it needs to be able to open one or several files, maybe modify them, save them, open basket window, load file there, submit - stuff like that.

  5. Don't forget autohotkey.

I have and like both autoit and autohotkey. For most of my automation stuff ahk is simpler to use and seems to have a better toolkit.
