Austin - paradigm shifts start out this exact same way. Doing what others are unwilling to do, going beyond what others accept. Simple - don't use it if you are not interested, just stay with what you are presently doing. Stay safe - sit back and watch how it does or does not work, and if it fails you can jump right in and say you warned everyone how the failure was so predictable and be a hero. Curious - when was the last time you watched a profitable system go fully auto mode like this and fail?
<i>"Curious - when was the last time you watched a profitable system go fully auto mode like this and fail?"</i> If the system is written on a single time frame for any symbol, it will fail. Lots of them have... some very famous ones. If a system is black-box written on many different timeframes, how can it be marketed as a black-box system? That's an interesting concept. Listen, I'm not casting aspersions on any system. The data offered looks wonderful. I'm a buyer if it hits the market with real-time results proving mechanical system stability. That means actual fills, not missed fills, etc. I'll pay $4,000 usd (better hurry, it ain't what it used to be) for something 1/2 as good as the ES results demonstrated without blinking an eye. I'll also hit it with 500, 1000 and 2000 ES contracts myself. Whatever timeframe you give me, consider that one saturated. No joke... I've got the capital in line to do that with and more. * Reality is, all systems have a saturation point. That includes the other example given which trades once per day, for hours duration. If the entry signal is mechanically issued same for everyone, it will fail. Somewhere along the line, it will be overwhelmed. <i>"You are looking at the planets 174 galaxies away before looking at the planets in your own galaxy..those are "way out there" problems imo."</i> That's a good problem to have for the system seller. Not so good for the fund of fund manager on operational end. See the difference? Again, save me a spot right up front to buy the system soon as it's available with a live-money track record of even three months' duration. I'll take it. I am serious. And I'll shake it down with heavy volume. If it holds up, I'm thrilled like you couldn't possibly imagine. Just wondering what happens if it don't hold up.
And the question that can never be answered by these vendors - if you can automate this and just turn on the switch, why on Earth would you sell it for a few thousand up front and/or a few hundred per month? Any sensible adult knows why, regardless of what is spoon fed to the hopeful sheep. As good as a few of these screenshots look, there's more than meets the eye. There's a reason why Felton just wants to sell this as an automated system and not trade his way to multi-millions himself. Again, you need a little sensibility and common sense to grasp this idea.
<i>"And the question that can never be answered by these vendors - if you can automate this and just turn on the switch, why on Earth would you sell it for a few thousand up front and/or a few hundred per month?"</i> Anything with discretion cannot be overhwelmed. Anything with rigid, black & white rules will always be overhwhelmed if it works as advertised. I'm serious as a heart attack on this: I am a cash buyer if the system performs in real time with real money for just three months straight. Let me see +200 point ES months as advertised, and I'll pay dearly. Save me endless hours of doing it the hard way in this chair. I have plenty of $$ in the proverbial pipeline to see where the saturation point is for ES on an intraday basis. The ER2 would be swamped on a single timeframe first day. If there are multiple timeframes to the system, who shows me which one to use? Pick a timeframe or frames, let it run with real cash at a broker for three months and I'll be the first buyer if it averages 1/2 of what's demonstrated in here. My wildest fantasy does not involve naked women... bored with that. My biggest dream is automated trading to print money while I'm miles away from the keyboard. If the system(s) hold up in real time with real money, I'll take it!
No - otto is not trading real money right now, and it will not until the programmer has added the final two trade entry methods which the code is now completed. This will all be done in the next several weeks as the remaining exit criteria backtesting is completed.
I agree, don't look at still screen shots, watch it live in the room when otto is up each day. You should also ask Roger your questions and see what he says, I did.
<i>"No - otto is not trading real money right now, and it will not until the programmer has added the final two trade entry methods which the code is now completed. This will all be done in the next several weeks as the remaining exit criteria backtesting is completed."</i> That's fine, no problem. I was under the impression everything is ready to go right now... that is what the other posts on subject seemed to imply. When all bugs are cured and robust, track record of execution in realtime is solid, I'm in. "Automated" is what we all desire. I've been working these screens for almost eight solid years. That's a long time, but doing it by hand is what performs best for me. Anyone has a mechanical, hands-off system that I can just let run is more than welcome to replace my efforts. What I really want most in life is time to shave ten strokes off my golf game, chase elk in three western states, ride a Harley from coast to coast across Canada... lots of things. Whom amongst us doesn't?
Austin - yes I know what you mean and I can assure you Roger will be trading the system live himself too. There are workable ways to provide realtime signals for a limited group of clients and also trade for oneself with the same system in different formats/dimensions.
