Question RE my laptop and using Tradestation. I have a new lightweight (what I thought was a pretty loaded 17" LG laptop (core i7). I use Tradestation and find that it freezes on occasion and I cant get my orders in or make changes to charts, etc. I am not sure honestly if it is a Tradestation issue or lack of my laptop not being powerful enough. I am thinking about trading it for a Dell Alienware laptop. Would welcome suggestions / experience with this.
Could you tell me your exact model? Other possible issues could be Thermal Throttling. There is a Tool called HWInfo, you can check your Laptops internal Temperatures.
Alienware came to mind. But before doing that, you should run a performance profile on your computer to determine where the bottleneck is occurring (i.e., is it RAM, CPU, Networking or Disk that is causing the freeze?).
Also are you asking it to do too much with many doms, T&S, low frequency charts - 1 minute, 50 tick etc etc.
Yes, it is this: LG Gram Laptop - 17" IPS WQXGA (2560 x 1600) Intel 10th Gen Core i7 1065G7 CPU, 16GB RAM, 1TB M.2 MVMe SSD (512GB x2), 17 Hour Battery, Thunderbolt 3 - 17Z90N (2020)
Please download HWMonitor (https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html) run your Trading Tools and wait for 5 minutes. Start HWMonitor and post an screenshot please. I am 70% sure it is thermal issues
Well if they are high frequency (correction from my previous post saying low) with many indicators and a lot of historical data .... that could be an issue.
If you have an Antivirus or Spyware program running try shutting it down - it can adversely affect TS. https://www.tradestation.com/best-practices-client-center/
