I recomend tickdata.com, while it is more expensive. I have data both from tickdata.com and from disktrading@is99.com and I compared them. is99 data does not contain every tick. If you want 1 min or 5 min data may be is99 data will be enough for you. But I wanted every tick. Also is99 tick data does not have seconds in time, for example 09:31 09:31 09:31 09:32 while tickdata.com have 09:31:04 09:31:04 09:31:05 09:31:06 RR
same. i am not sure when they'll actually take new people. i wonder how they afford to keep 10 TB of tick data without charging their users...
You get what you pay for. If you're testing a system and your account, your livelihood and the welfare of all who you may be responsible providing for depends on the data being accurate and your system profitable, dole out the money. If you don't have the money to invest as yet the norm in charting software is on average two periods tick, six month's worth of minute, and a decade of daily. Plenty enough information between time frames to match macro and micro patterns and types of markets to test systems. In my opinion if 3-5 grand will break the bank you needn't trade beyond intraday, if at all, anyway. Manage risk, guys.
Was simply asking for an alternative to FREE historical data - not on whether i should be trading intra day, swing trading or if I should spend 5k for data. Stop being so pompous.
My advice is my advice. If it doesn't sit well with you chances are great you need heed it. The lot of you fuck off trying to tell me how or what to write.
