Best Foods to Eat (Health-wise)

  1. It's true that taste is mostly acquired and habit. eliminate added salt from your food (a very good thing) and everything tastes bland. after a short while any additional salt tastes way too salty.

    taste is an acquired habit.

same goes for FAT. drastically reduce sat fat .. shortly thereafter anything with fat tastes greasy .. and IT SHOULD. because it IS too fatty

  2. what is 'moderation"?

how do you know what is too much sat fats in your food?

one man's 'moderation' is another man's appetizer :D

  3. I definitely agree with you on this, just like everything is tough when you first start out, if you stick with it long enough it can become easy to do and even enjoyable.

When I was a lot younger I ate fast food a lot, and now I cannot even remember the last time I did and I dont miss it one bit!

  4. You probably have some idea of what moderation is.
The poison is in the dose.

I'm still curious what is your view of taking fish and cod liver oil?

  6. I do have a notion of moderation.. but the question is what's yours? And just what do you base it on?

Fish is contaminated with mercury and dioxins.

  7. Some information about saturated fat. I don't advocate a high saturated fat diet but the facts aren't conclusive that saturated fat causes heart disease.

Early Americans from the early 1900's and before had before had a high fat diet and low rate of heart disease.

The Sumburus in Africa eat hundreds of grams of saturated fat a day and have low heart disease.

There are tribes in the south Pacific who eat large amounts of coconut oil yet have virtually no heart disease.

As always there are two sides to most stories especially with diet.

There are many more cultural examples of extreme diets where the people lead healthy lives.

  8. and also grass fed beef is full of omega 3 fatty acids (the real healthy fatty acids) while corn fed beef is full of omega 6's (bad kind). So not all animal fats are created equal, or saturated fats for that matter.

  9. Fish oil sold in supplements does not contain mercury and dioxins and that's a fact Jack. Your hammering everyone here about not doing any research before posting, check consumer reports on fish oil to verify.

So I'll rephrase my question to you. Do you think taking mercury free and dioxin free fish oil is good to do?

  10. it's amazing you are still here defending saturated fats. there is no known dietary DRI/RDA for saturated fat. the small amount it needs, the body makes. the rest is deposited into your arteries and tissues.
