Best extended hours broker

Discussion in 'Retail Brokers' started by blackchip, May 27, 2005.

  1. Anyone have any recommendations for the best extended hours broker regarding longest hours and execution?

  2. CyberTrader has access to all ECNs for all hours - INET ARCA BRUT ATTN NTRD and BTRD

  3. Any more suggestions on this?

Might as well plug IB (www.interactivebrokers.com). We've got extended access to all the ECN's and futures markets in the states. With IB you can access on the same platform via the same account to 50+ exchanges in 14 countries.

  5. If you want to trade "after-hours" you want to trade futures. ES trades quite a bit (70,000-90,000?) before 9:30 eastern. No stock on an ECN will even come close to this in terms of volume not to mention a much smaller spread on ES.

  6. Thanks for the replies.

Do you have any idea why a lot of the major discount brokers only have extended morning hours to 9:15 am and not 9:30? I've seen this at several.

For instance, here is Ameritrade's info:

    * A.M. Extended Hours Trading session: 8:00 A.M. to 9:15 A.M. ET, Monday through Friday.

    * P.M. Extended Hours Trading sessions are: Nasdaq® 4:15 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. ET, Monday through Friday; and NYSE and AMEX listed securities 4:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. ET, Monday through Friday.

They even have a 15 minute black out AH...

It's confusing but I believe you can trade from 8am to 8pm.
You need to choose "Day + Ext".
