More specifically in providing: (1) Level II quotes (2) Ease of routing to an exchange and market maker (3) Fastest Execution (4) Reliability (order execution and system crashes) (5) Good Reputation in compensating for poor trade execution Of course, an easier to use system and lower price is preferred, but the above 5 are most important in that order.
