Best City For Traders

Discussion in 'Professional Trading' started by TraderJoe08, Nov 11, 2008.

  1. The city is very nice and clean but the weather is a killer if you are anywhere from temperate climate zones. It's right on the equator so the sun is directly above your head. 90+ degrees throughout the year and it easily goes above 110 during midday. and the humidity just makes it worse, especially during rainy seasons.

Great food and girls though. But it's just way too damn hot.

  2. I'd say come on down to Tampa, but I'm gettin out of here.

The best city to trade from is the one that has tiki huts on the beach that you can trade from... still looking for one in Costa Rica

  5. I'll want to live there from October to May. I'll spend summers in Europe and avoid the hurricanes. The tax benefits will weigh up to the downside effects of any possible disruption.

UCF_Student, I can't think getting a visa to Ukraine is going to be too difficult, given the cash in your bank account.

  8. Well, as mentioned before Western europe is great as far as opportunity to trade goes.

You get up at 9, then 3 in the afternoon US markets open untill 10 in the evening and if you aren't saturated you can trade Asia after midnight.:)

High standard of living also (although some might say that will soon be ending because all the banks are bust.:D )

Also some countries have a very loose taxcontroll and no capital gain tax...

    :)

One point I should bring up for anyone trading outside of US, Canada, Western Europe, Japan and Singapore/ Hong Kong is reliable source of electricity. Countries like Ukraine have electricity shortage or old equipment that goes out constantly, you may experience lack of electricity several hours a week and that could be deadly for any trader.

uptik's being a bit generous on the travel times to nyc and boston (3 hours each way is more like it from his area), but for people who want to live in rural area but still have accessibility to major cities, the hudson valley works.

i agree with an above poster who said there are lots of diverse views. i personally would hate living in an isolated area - but have a friend who does and loves it. it all depends on what every person is looking for. if you live in the metro areas of chicago / boston / nyc, the public transportation is good enough that you can live "far" away if you don't mind taking the train, to get the best of both worlds. london is somewhat the same, though the train system used to be terrible.
