I agree on Tradestation for nice charting ,,, and lot of features in the platforom that still not available with other plateform. However i can't comment for market profile since i don't use it
Thanks, will look into tradestation. It looks like Account service fee if $150 a month before paying for market data with account minimum 2k. Sounds pricey If I only use them for charting and not as my broker.
There are a lot of trading softwares out there: Multicharts, Multiwave, Sterling pro, Ninjatrader(I think its mostly for futures), MedvedTrader. Amibroker is apparently the best for complicated coding. TrendSpider looks like a good one as well but its web based. I am currently using MedvedTrader for daytrading. Pros: Not expensive, very easy to use and user friendly, light on the pc, very good support, can navigate easily between multiple stocks, ability to have paintbars and custom scanners, hotkeys, good charting functionalities... Cons: No market replay, cannot combine multiple timeframes into the scanner/paintbar, cannot see premarket gappers(You need to use your broker scanner or some website for that) , No Float/SSR column in watchlist
If you have $500 in your account and put yourself in $5 commison plan ( you don't have to trade) , you will be charged $50 for inactivity fee once end of year. What you mentioned can happen only, if you are on per share commsion plan ( $1 Minimum) , and don't trade 10,000 shares , you will be charged $150 for Tradestion and 109$ for portfolio mastreo backtesting platform. I don't understand or who told you they have monthly $150 charge, which is not true. If you pick right plan, Tradestation plateform is basically FREE.
I quote " no brokerage account required" for subscription only package. Further TS also says " Plans start at just $99 per month" probably just fx , but again , no account needed .
I trade for a living and highly recommend Medved Trader, which I've been using for 7 years. They support multiple brokers and multiple 3rd party data feeds. Their support is outstanding and they respond to questions and issues very quickly. They are probably the only service out there that adds new chart indicators and features when requested, they even have a section on their forum to request such things. New features are being added all the time. There is an option to get their beta updates (usually 2-3 every month), or wait and get the production version updates (about 4 or more per year). Its pretty hard to beat for $20 bucks a month or $180 per year.
I was using it 15 years ago .. you can't build custom studies and apply them to your position, chart and portfolio.
