there's a guy with a series of great videos on youtube. He goes over proper form in great detail, and gives suggestions about what machines, exercises to do. His name is Doug Jones. I think it's called 'best way to exercise'. He suggests using the pullover machine by Nautilus, or probably anything similar. You should have a seatbelt to strap yourself in. This machine puts the weight on your elbows rather than your hands (as a pull-up would). It really nails the lats. I recommend checking out his videos
Started the dumbbell pullover. As I stated, I am using just the free-weight bar with no weights attached to do this excersice. I think it is 30 lbs. As recommended, I stopped above where if I went lower it could cause rotator problems. Non of the machines are targetting what this exercise does, because I am really sore from it in places that I am not sore from anything else. My entire torso is beginning to expand out, while I am maintaining weight (~173). So am losing fat and putting on muscle for sure. I am beginning to wonder if the only way to lose stomach fat is to go on an all out war against it.
A friend of mine couldn't lose his "love handles" no matter how much weight he lost or exercised. Now thanks to liposuction he has a nice taper to his torso. He instructed the doc to suck out all the fat from pecs to pubs. He claims to have gained an inch on his dick too (this last claim never verified)
Is it possible that you ate or drank a fair amount not long before you worked out? http://sportsmedicine.about.com/cs/injuries/a/aa053100a.htm Personally, I think there are better ways to spend time in the gym than doing pullovers, be it the straight or bent arm variety.
I would think that bench, rows and weighted dips and chins would be even better. Admittedly, the rows and chins would be more for width than thickness. But I think a middle aged weekend warrior would be better served by these upper body exercises than going off on tangents like pullovers and such. It's all about the best bang for the buck for people who don't want to live in the gym.
The bench is highly overrated, i believe. A bit better choice is decline bench. Dips and Chins are great mass builders. The "row" is so so.
What is the best time to do cardio training and to do resistance training? Evening /Morning? What is the best time to eat protein/carbohydrate? before training/after? Thanks
