  1. IMO, full-body stuff is completely without merit for what Nitro is looking to achieve.

  2. he's trying to burn fat and gain some muscle at same time, all the while learning a new healthy lifestyle that he can live with.

what do you think he is trying to achieve? Mr O?

  3. It's essentially "resistance cardio" and won't build LBM to any degree. No single workout is best, but I've done it long enough to know what to avoid. Most people workout just to go through the motions and assuage their guilt from eating like shit and laying on the couch all weekend.

The guys doing whole body workouts are the guys who look like they can't lift a coffee mug over their head. Obviously Nitro would like to look fit as well as achieving cardiovascular fitness. He's not going to look like Christian Bale in BBs by doing 30 minutes of circuit training. Ugh.

  4. I also think working one muscle group at a time before moving on to the next is the way to go. And although I prefer lower reps, I nevertheless try to avoid going below 7 or 8 and adjust the weights accordingly. At 52, the joints aren't quite what they used to be. I favored 6-rep sets well into my 40s, but that was then and this is now.

  5. how the f?vck does any of this rambling bullshit refute what i suggested for a beginner ..3 whole body workouts per week (max), 1 set to failure, 8-10 sets total per workout. cardio on off days, one day off.

  6. I realize it's over your head. A "full body workout" is a euphemism that pussies use to dupe themselves into thinking they're accomplishing something. I hope you are joking with the one set to failure. You qualify your response with "beginner", but there is no prerequisite but effort. Full body workouts are for women.

Strong cardio workout. Burned a shade less than 485 calos. I am not feeling like myself lately, but I go to the gym no matter what. A shade above 180 lbs at this point. That 8 is going, lifting or no lifting. No lifting Tuesdays and Thursdays so just cardio today.

Tomorrow I am going to try weaning myself off the machines and start doing the dead weights, probably the last set so I can do those to failure.

Only half hour of cardio, and half hour of lifting. I burned a shade over 200 calos on the treadmill. As for the lifting, I tried to concentrate more on one part of the body, half on the machines, and then the end to failure on dumbbells. My arms and upper body is shaking...

Forwards, I am going to try to alternate stairs and treadmill for cardio as well as move towards the dead-weights.

    180 ish...
