I'm no expert either, but I think you are right. Pre-workout is not the time to get your protein. You want carbs for energy before a workout; protein after. I did like the effects of taking N.O. Shotgun pre-workout, also heard good reviews on NO Explode. My friend swears by McDonalds coffee for pre-workout energy boost.
sounds like you're doing interval training, which is my recommended way of losing fat. What I've read is that the stationary bike is the best equipment for this. Eliptical is not intense enough, treadmill too hard on joints. I recommend the reclined bike to save your nuts. 30 seconds of speed peddling as fast as you can, then 1.5 minutes of 70% effort. Go for 5-8 intervals. Actually just read about it online. Lots of info out there
has anybody had any success using the 'cheat day' concept? which is basically taking one day a week to eat whatever you want in order to keep your metabolism cranking? I think it makes a lot of sense, but I'm just not that disciplined. I eat pretty healthy all the time and forget to do my cheat day every week. Any big proponents of ice cream here? My friend swears by ice cream every day. I'm more of a peanut butter guy.
I try to avoid ice cream. Too much sugar and saturated fat. One of my favorite treats, which I have every day, is a mix of of walnuts, raisins and pumpkin seeds. It's a very tasty and healthy combo. And a small amount of dark chocolate afterwards.
