HFCS is in becoming ubiquitous in many processed food products.. it's empty calories that helps lead to obesity. what's not to understand??
I am assuming that what I am experiencing is normal, i.e., that the more weight you lose the harder it is to lose the same absolute weight week in and week out. This sort of makes sense, we lose weight in % terms not absolute terms. With that realization, since I wanted to do meet my goals in twelve weeks, I have stepped up the routine to try and continue the target weight in twelve weeks. I am not too worried if I miss it by a week or two, but if I miss it by a month, that would be bad imo. I was at Cheesecake factory last nigth with friends. At the end of the meal the waitress asks me if I want any dessert. I tell her that I love the chocolate mouse cheesecake, but that it is probably 700 calories. She tells me that I can't think about it that way, that I just have to enjoy it. Every time I want to eat something now, since I know how hard it is to burn x amount of calories, I just decline it if it is outrageous. Sad but true. All the time up until I was about 35, I could eat a horse every day and not worry about it. Not anymore My daughter, who comes to work out with me on occasion, mentions that the key is the BMR, or Basal Metabolic Rate. Heh, we made getting in shape somewhat fun
You're trying to lose weight while eating at the Cheesecake Factory? Really? Losing weight and altering LBM ratios is 80% diet. You can't ingest 2500 cals for dinner and burn 600 calories for an hour on the stairmaster and think you're getting ahead. And I've seen your scoutmaster photo at 35yo... you think you were lean in that photo? http://calorielab.com/news/wp-images/post-images/cheesecake-factory-nutrition-facts-calories-05.gif
Hey man, cut me some slack. Once every six months? Sheesh, you guys are worse than religious zealots.
The average entree is what you should be eating *over 24 hours*. I don't have your day planner, so forgive me if this is truly a biannual event, but somehow I doubt it. That's almost 4 hours on the stairs.
Ya. I had the appetizer as my main course for exactly this reason. When I saw the portions of my friends food from the dinner menu, it looks like this is meant to be taken home and eaten over a couple of days. I think these places give you huge amounts of food because they charge so much for the food, they have to justify it somehow. Food takes on a different dimension when you equate it to goals you have and amount of work to get there. Without the goal, calories mean nothing. Only when you have first hand experience trying to achieve something, does the number (calories to lose weight, money to buy a house, etc) come alive. As an aside, this is interesting reading for those that don't know about it. Read the whole article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basal_metabolic_rate
I'll give you some tips, as you seem to lack the proper motivation. Nobody serious about losing weight dines at Cheesecake Factory. * Squats and compound lifts in the PM (as late as possible) to activate the CNS and to promote GH secretion. * Fasted cardio in the AM, before breakfast. Eat nothing and drink only water for 45m post-cardio. * Emphasize resistance training over cardio. At least an EOD schedule. * Supplementation: Green tea extract, 7-Keto DHEA, DHEA, iodine source, K-RALA; BCAAs are very important on calorie-restriciton. * Count calories. Try to limit cals to 1500 daily. * Eat small meals throughout the day. Run actual stairs if you have access to a stadium or condo/apt stairs. Don't be idle. You would lose a pound a week for 6 weeks if you simply added one set of 20-rep of ass-to-ground squats each night (barbell, weight at 30-rep max).
there's nothing wrong with going out with friends and rewarding oneself for a good effort over last 6-8 weeks. so what you ate too much ONE evening. that amounts to what...1000 too many calories? big deal..that's 1/3 of a pound. now your back on the strait and narrow. little harm done nitro in the big picture. keep up the good work!
