Real progress beginning to show. I have lost fat weight and put on muscle. Cardio much better. Clothes staring to look like they are hanging on nice wood hanger instead of those wiry pieces of shit you get from the cleaners. Stomach fat extremely stubborn. Don't worry, I will win.

One downside is my left leg hurts (knee area) and my elbows hurt. Even in my youth I was prone to shin splints and weird arm ailments. Nothing I can't train through with patience and discipline.

Left arm closing in on right arm strength, which helps quite a bit. Stamina improving. Increasing weight slowly as I do not want to risk injury. Browsing books getting acquainted with different muscle groups. I am most interested in the latissimus dorsi. Losing weight - read that for every pound you lose, 1/4" goes off waist area. Shape coming back. Trying to optimize by eating lots of protein without eating meat, not that I wouldn't love a fillet Mignon, just a ton of calories. I am eating split pea soup. Tons of protein and low cal. Unfortunately I think it constipates me a little bit.

I was sitting playing chess on the internet, and I was distracted and taken back by something I have not seen in a reeeally long time, veins popping out of my arms and hands.

Goal is to look decent in clothes, but a part of me wonders how strong I can get. Weigh 175 lbs and bench press 300? In high school, there were these people that looked straight out of magazine in wrestling. I never had bulging muscles, but I was way stronger than most of these people. I am curious what training could do....

I disagree about lats, everything I have read says this is a highly neglected muscle. I do agree it is sexy as hell.

I am a sort of centaur, I am built from the waist down like a sprinter, and from the waist up like a wrestler. I don't need much below the waist, except for one place, from the knee down. I think I was prone to shin splints for this very reason, and I needed to strengthen my calves aggressively to prevent injury.

  9. Who neglects the lats certainly not bodybuilders?

Those legs will shrink as the weight loss comes off, and as they do they will become weaker and less functional. Muscle that isn't worked while losing weight is cannibalized.

Are you not doing a full body workout?

Your not doing this for health & function reasons but for show aren't you. Can you say mid-life crisis :D

Who is talking about professional body builders?

Hmmm, I didn't think about that...

No. But maybe I need to reconsider. I do walk and run that keeps my lower body toned, but no weigth machines on the lower half.

I have already said the idea is to look decent in clothes, not to compete for Mr. Universe nor am I trying out for the Chicago Bears. However, as I am doing it more, I am becoming more ambitious. Mid-life crisis? Whatever it takes to motivate me man [See below.]
