Best and Worst CNBC Commercials

  1. I'm getting very sick of "The market goes up . . . you make money. The market goes down . . .glub . .. you make money" form Barrons. And those Dell ads are universally irritating, across all channels. I don't care how much everyone loves that kid; I think he's an obnoxious, annoying, nasal-voiced high-schooler. Kinda like Michael Dell come to think of it. Last year it was those stupid-assed "Hi Mom" video-cam ads asking for a computer; this year it's the Rambler ad nauseum.

In fact any commercial that runs more than once an hour goes on my F list, including the Mac in the storefront that mimics the passerby. Cute once, but . . . .. Enough already!!

Actually if Maria walked by and the Mac started spewing bullsh*t from the CD-ROM slot . . . now that would get my attention LOL

Maria IS one of my favorite commercials.
What a piece of work. Mamma mia!
(assuming she's fair game of course and with all due respect)

The SMARTBEEP commercial is my all time favorite, I tried to post the AVI file, without any success but it is well searching the web for. Other than that I won't spoil the surprise for anyone who hasn't seen it.

E-Trade had a commercial that started out as an ad for a Nasal Spray called NOSEOLA and I thought it was serious until they started to list the side effects like: seeing the dead, huge itchy rashes, visits by the prince of darkness and the condition known as giant eyeball.

The other one I like is that huge black guy who is talking about UPS and he says "Brown says how about some more pie"

This thread brings back some memories.

  7. Some great posts here. I would have to say, the best run of commericals was in 1999. Anytime mainstream gets a hold of something, it is hilarious to watch how clueless they really are with the reality of a given situation. Without a doubt one the top 5 picks is the "Money outta of the wazoo" That is classic stuff. If I was not so toasted right now from a 10 hour day, I would offer more.....however......on a deep philosophical note...........here are a couple:

    1. there is a great commerical from CSFB...this guy is walking through a desert like walk-way...he passes other people...this music kicks in--it is the ambien I think deep thoughts kind-- anyhow, he keeps walking and finally finds this door that no one else can see...when he opens it, the shade comes down and the music climaxes......

    2. another cool one is when this huge luxury SUV is driving through Broadway avenue...on top of the roof is a big canoe....this guy who is obviously a workerbee, stops in his tracks and says...its Tuesday...how can he be doing this on Tuesday afternoon?????

    3. another one is when the son in the commerical is dead set on going to medical school...he runs in the kitchen all pumped after receiving his acceptance letter in the mail....his mom look at him and says-- your father decided to start a little daytrading, and lost of your money...besides you never looked good in green anyways.............

    4. i seemed to dig the cool little jingle from the commericals of Boeing.............

  8. Favorite.... Amertrade commercial with the Dobermans chasing Stuart across the huge grass area, like he's a trespasser, and he jumps into the pool to evade them. Funny how the father then grills him about daytrading being a fad.

Worst.... Anything with Maria Butt-aroma, for the BS she spews. Somebody give that woman a breathe mint!!!! Amazing what make up and dark clothing can do for the figure challenged.

im no make up artist here, but does maria b on purpose make her eyes look like she's been hung over for the past three days? couldnt they at least try to help her out a bit and brighten her up?!?! she sure could use it. And since it seems that we have more and more time left on our hands during the day instead of trading, how about a new thread - the likes and dislikes of cnbc anchors and guests - i go first- i cant stand that Cheerleading B!^%ch Marcy Rosel, you give her any economic number and she'll tell you its great, no matter how ugly it is. And then you wonder why people say why is the market down, everything is great. thnx marcy>>>
