remember the E-trade commercial where the CEO is giving a presentaiton and he starts talking through the parrot sitting on his shoulder. The camera shoots to a woman who keys in a sell order Wasn't that for XOXO ?? Smart lady, to sell. What I'd like to know is when Nasdaq reconfigured the Q's on 12-24 XOXO was left in. At the time it was already DOA.
OK this is is my all time favorite, well they all are, they were the short movies for BMW, yeah, when those came on, everything stopped and watched the short movie, and if i had to pick one it would be the one when he has the M5 with the rock star, music by blur - Woooooo Hoooooooooo. that gets my number 1 vote.
"teach a man to fish" ...... " my friend asked, are we doing something illegal ?" I just hate that commercial. Also, the one with the hyperactive, chattering women. "She comes over.....and I get on my computer!!!!" Investor Business Daily gets a lifetime achievement award for the longest running, consistently worst commercials. Oh wait, another one: The Archipeligo commercial where the guy's mother comes in to breast feed him in the restaurant in front of everybody and then burps him. Worst taste award!!!
The discrepancy between the regulation on broker dealers versus anyone else - software, books, periodicals - is extreme. BD's are not allowed to give testimonials about investment returns at all. IBD can say, "I make a 1200% return with this newspaper." Black box-type software companies can have actors essentially scream, "I just buy when the light is green and sell when it is red, and I make a kajillion dollars!" Yet, if you had a real client of a real broker say, "This broker earned me 10% last year," that would be illegal, and the BD would get into all sorts of trouble. It's just more brilliance from the regulatory bodies.
Winner in the best category: Ameritrade / Stewart Winner in the worst category: Dell / Dude, you're getting a Dell Actually, I don't watch CNBC much any more. Are any of the Stewart commercials still running? BSAM
As far as that sonofa*** that came to my office telling me "Dinky I quit!" Well, you better believe I had the last laugh after his stock dropped! The wazoo one was also hilarious... "Insurance? He's got money coming out the wazoo!" But my all time favorite, and one I don't think anyone mentioned, was the ad for the movie "BLOW'D UP". Every time I saw the guy coming out of the Andy Gump holding his stomach like he took a huge crap, then it blows up... I'd fall out of my chair I'd be laughing so hard! I think we need a poll set up to really vote on... there'd be a lot of contenders, though!
VW PAssat 275hp car adv, where the driver slows down and acts like he's really driving hard, and racing the little boy on his bicycle on the street corner. very nice...
the commercial where you see a dock on a fresh water lake, and you see the feet dangling of the father and his daughter, who says she's afraid that there are sharks in the water, and he's trying to talk her out of her fear, and she comes out, and just says that she doesn't want to go swimming, because he didn't seem to get her objection. this was for some firm that made water filtration cleansing pumps... awesome commercial
I agree, those 2 ARCA ads are horrendous, with the bottle feeding and the grown guy jumping into his parents bed. Is this the best these ad agencies can come up with?? I also noticed the Nasdaqqq Times Square ads have curiously left the airwaves, while NDX has been shedding some serious market cap. . . .
