Best Alternative to US Citizenship

  1. Convert your IRA to a Roth next year and open a self-directed IRA. Trade in your self-directed IRA without using margin (profits earned with margin are taxable) and grow your wealth tax free. Just earn enough money in your taxable account to pay your bills and contribute to your IRA every year. When you retire, all of your Roth distributions will be tax-free. This way, you can still live in the US, but have very low taxes.

This all assumes that our government does not change the Roth IRA rules.

On second thought, better get out while you can.

the federal goverment declared recently it will hold on the concept of the flat tax, so no change there. And every "Kanton" (county) can decide for itself if it will have the flat or not. And i can ashure you there are plenty of Kantons they will hold on that concept :)

As normal the socialist citys like Zürich abolished the flat :)))

First move most of the assets overseas, in meantime get another citizenship, than get rid of US citizenship. My best tip for residency location would be HK, taxwise excellent and lifestyle suits me as well.

US is in deep trouble, doubt I'm going anywhere.. But I wouldn't trust Asia. At the end of the day, personal freedom trumps all, even if you pay more in taxes. Talent from anywhere in the world will flock to more freedom. To me it is no real shock that places like San Fran thrive. A young intelligent person will want go to a place where they are free to express themselves anyway they choose. If I had to get out of here, taxes would be important but not number one. If taxes are your number one concern, then you should at least put personal freedoms second when taxes are similar.

  7. The biggest personal freedom I care about is about keeping as much of my money to myself instead of handing it over to the government.

Check out personal freedom and individual rights in a place like Switzerland, you'd be surprised about the level of democracy they offer.

  8. Western Europe.

Official taxes are really high but everyone cheats and the state hardly cares.

Everyone has a Polish cleaning lady, 2/3 of the fines never get payed and as a company chances of getting audited are 0.5%.

Girls are pretty, beer is good and healthcare is free.:)

In HK your personal freedom is similar to the one in Europe. Dont want to compare it with US.

The reality is that Switzerland is changing. I personally would not have thought so, but it is. And the reliance on rich people is starting to leave scars. The problem is that they pay very little, but demand quite a bit.

Want to see how the Swiss are getting annoyed, just look at Michael Schumacher and why he still lives in the French Kantons. (BTW Kantons are not counties, but states. Gemeinde are counties).
