I can't answer your question but I have sometimes wondered what the basis trading and grain trading business is like over there. I would think the heavily subsidies farmers who expect the government to look after them would be more likely to sell there grain at harvest and not worry abut it. Do you have any idea about how common on farm storage is? How regulated is the grain handling business in Europe? Do you have a rough idea how much currency risk British farmers have? It could be a similar situation to Ontario in that numerous compilations come together to make a market with many opportunities to employ capital in low risk trades.
