I believe it's because of pollution per capita.

  2. It goes to the basics.

If you are flying private but there is a seat available on a commercial carrier, then that is a net gain in pollution, right?

Because if you took the seat on commercial, the private plane would not be in flight. I mean that might not be true for a specific plane but in aggregate it puts fewer planes in the air.

Matthews is actually correct to ask these questions.

    Socialism = dictatorship = fascism

Even if many of the specific reforms Sanders calls for could be won through struggle, his broader goals of ending corporate domination of politics and ending inequality, poverty, and racism are not achievable under capitalism. Sanders’ underlying view is that capitalism can be reformed into a system that works for ordinary people – a dangerous illusion that will come crashing up against reality in the next period.

The goal of transitioning the U.S. and the global economy away from fossil fuels over the next decade as embodied in Alexandria Ocasio Cortez’ proposal for a Green New Deal, for example, would be viciously opposed by the powerful energy industries. Wall Street has major investments staked on burning all the remaining fossil fuel reserves. Breaking their power and mobilizing the huge resources needed to tackle climate change will require taking the big energy industries and financial institutions into public ownership under the democratic control of working people.

In this context, a Sanders presidency would be rapidly faced with two choices: either capitulation on central pillars of his platform, or using the presidential podium to help build a mass movement from below prepared to challenge the ruling class in a more serious way.

For the scale of social change and investment needed to tackle income inequality and the legacy of racism, to ensure quality housing, health care, and education to all, to end predatory imperialist adventures once and for all, a socialist transformation of society is needed. This would mean taking the top 500 companies and financial institutions into public ownership and reorganizing our economy according to a democratic plan.

Per passenger, most definitely. Think carpooling/public bus vs private car/limo. I still think the argument is stupid

If we're fighting a war, why use guns, why not talk our enemies down?<<your argument

Here is a better clip of Matthews.

If you honestly think that Bernie can beat Trump, you are a moron.

Matthews also states that people have to be mindless not to ask Biden about his son's involvement in Ukraine.

"I've seen what socialism's like, and I don't like it. OK? It's not only not free, it doesn't frickin' work."

  7. We are being told that the climate situation is so dire, so completely out of control that the earth is going to be uninhabitable by the end of this decade. THIS DECADE! Not next decade, not next century, this one, right here, right now. Is that the case, yes or no? If it's yes, then every single airplane needs to be grounded, TODAY. Every single car with a combustion engine needs to be parked, TODAY. Every single steel mill, oil refinery and the like need to be shutdown, TODAY. And this needs to happens globally, every continent, all countries, TODAY.
There is no need to discuss and other topic, none at all. Racism, sexism, all forms of discrimination...totally irrelevant. Economies, education, housing, all of it, not only back burner issues, they are non issues. THE ENTIRE WORLD IS GOING TO END IN LESS THAN TEN YEARS. If they're serious when they say that, then why is anything else being discussed? Why was any other question asked last night at the debate?

Looks like poor Bernie Sanders is about to get some more love from Hillary Clinton. Only a matter of time for the vicious attack ads calling out Bernie Sanders as the Socialist that he is.
So far, he has gotten the kiddie gloves treatment even in the so called Democrat debates. That is about to change real soon.

I guess Mathews has lost that tingle up his leg.

Bernie has never run anything bigger than Burlington Vermont. Wall Street will pour money into Trump's campaign when/if a Bernie nomination is imminent. He will not be President.
