His credentials are more "academic" in nature as opposed to practical "business" experience: this explains a lot of his Keynesian beliefs. Personally, I think the rebate checks are a gimmick - however, he seems to support them. Also, the IRS and Treasury disagree with him on tax cuts not paying for themselves. (The markets don't appear to appreciate the comments either).
