When you study world economic history, you find that virtually ALL governments are either "bad" from the beginning or eventually degrade to bad... even when their beginnings were most noble. Such was the case with America. The Founding Fathers knew this and tried to provide a Constitution so that we might avoid historical pitfalls.

Worked at first, but eventually not. Guess we just can't help ourselves. :(

Unlikely. It's often said, "the business of America is war".

The EASY road to re-election requires either (1) promise of more economic prosperity for voters, and/or (2) protection against "something"... even if the something has to be made up (you know, like WMDs in Iraq?)

War is part of both the protection and inflation machine. America will never abandon it.
